this is supposedly a free market system, yet we can't even find the price of procedures. this is ridiculous.

the us healthcare system is not a private system, it's a system corrupted by the private and public sector working together to exploit the american people, something similar to fascism. Anyway, as we know, there's no government involvement in the delivery of computers, electronics, cellphones et al. and prices keep going down while quality is going up so we know that the market works. Govts are great at breaking your leg, handing you crutches and telling you: "see, without me you couldn't walk"

Another Stossel classic.

@rugbyanden most advanced western countries are also bankrupt. there's nothing inherent in healthcare that dictates it should be private, but there is something inherent in our fundamental values and our constitution that dictates it. i want total freedom in my choice of healthcare provider, and the system as it exists sets up harrowing obstacles to that. i could write a goddamn dissertation on why the american healthcare system is tantamount to fecal matter.

What if we get rid of healthcare insurance and the government institutes grants for health care? It will be analogous to applying for a scholarship when you're going into college. Sure we'll give you money, but you have to convince us to give you money so you don't waste it on needless expenditures.

@BRYAN351 That's funny but I now pay almost ten dollars per hour for my healthcare and I am only eligible if I work enough hours every quarter. Back when Hillary care was on the table our contribution rate stayed ay four dollars an hour for almost two years. As soon as that was taken off the table prices and my contribution rate skyrocketed.

@BRYAN351 What if everyone paid little or nothing. There is not much difference between that and minimum wage
